Today, Bruce continues to set trends and change lives in ways that only
God could inspire.
Bruce serves as the Director of Arts and Music at Hope
Church, in Cordova, Tennessee. Craig Strickland started Hope in 1988 with a vision to minister to the
unchurched people of East Shelby County. With a congregation of 25 core
members, they began worshiping in Shelby Place Restaurant (now The
Butcher Shop) at the corner of Germantown Parkway and Walnut Grove
Road, and later in the auditorium of Evangelical Christian School. Hope built its first permanent home in the Germantown community in
1996. Since then, Hope has grown from 400 to over 6,000 in weekly
attendance, making it one of the ten fastest-growing churches in
America.
With a 10-member live performance band, Bruce leads congregational music four times every weekend in a state-of-the-art auditorium that has been specially designed for an intimate and meaningful worship experience.
In addition, Bruce helps lead several monthly workshops on the Hope campus that are geared toward helping local and regional singers, songwriters, recording engineers, worship leaders and budding artists pursue and perfect their calling. And during the summer, Bruce and his team produce and promote a concert series that features many of the most popular and inspiring artists in contemporary Christian and modern worship music.
Under Bruce's leadership, Hope has also launched
The Grove, an innovative record
label that uses proprietary Internet tools to record, promote, distribute and perform original Christian music. Bruce's decades of experience in the traditional record business has given The Grove unique insights and advantages in discovering new talent. In addition to publishing Bruce's music, The Grove recently signed
Jeremy Horn, another trend-setting Memphian who just released his first CD, Atmosphere.
Across the hall from his label's offices, Bruce
leads a digital
recording studio that is more advanced than most you'd find on Music
Row.
